CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION
CHOREOGRAPHY COMPETITION
Have you choreographed your own line dance or always wanted to?
Then why not enter our choreography competition? You can dance alone or you can invite your friends to join you.
If you would like to register to compete in the choreography competition the registration is separate, you can register by filling in the form with payment below.
The step sheet and music for the choreography must be emailed to choreographycomp@gmail.com by March 15th 2026.
Please see the rules below and note that they are slightly different to World Dance Masters (the differences being minimum music length to be played, dance entry options and extra requirements for the delivery of music and step sheets).
Each division will be judged separately with the winners announced. The choreography will be judged not the dancer.
The judges will then pick an OVERALL winner who will win a teaching spot at The World Dance Masters in Blackpool, England 2026 plus $750 towards travel expenses (paid at WDM July 30th – August 3rd 2026) and 4 nights accommodation (shared with another member of staff). They will also win a teaching spot, weekend pass and 4 nights accommodation (shared with another member of staff) at Sunshine N Line 2027.
Choreography Competition Rules - Florida Dance Masters
This category is offered for dances in the following divisions:
Non-Country Categories: i) Beginner ii) Improver iii) Intermediate iii) Advanced
Country Categories: i) Beginner ii) Improver iii) Intermediate iii) Advanced
Depending on entries, Non-Country and Country divisions may be combined
A stepsheet and music of the choreography should be provided no later than March 15th 2026.
The choreographer of the dance/s entered must be available at the event to demo the dance in the competition. They may nominate someone else to demonstrate the dance for them, however, the choreographer must be in attendance at the event.
A maximum of 8 dancers may demonstrate the choreography and Sunshine N Line instructor staff may not perform with or enter the choreography competition.
Choreographers may not enter more than TWO dances per division. This is inclusive of lead and co-choreographed dances (i.e. a choreographer may be listed on a dance twice per division). Only the lead choreographer (the name listed first on the registration) will be eligible for any prize(s).
Choreography entry dances should be no older than 6 months of closing date for entry. The Sunshine N Line Choreography Competition is intended to support and provide a platform for new choreographers and those who are continuing to build their profiles. Sunshine N Line reserves the right to decline and refund registrations, or request another dance be submitted, if we deem a submission is not in the spirit of the contest.
It is the choreographers discretion as to what level they enter their dance. The choreography will be judged accordingly on the division it is entered.
Dancers may wear any clothing and footwear of their choice for these divisions, however if the clothing chosen could cause offense to either judges or spectators, dancers risk being penalized or disqualified.
Music for each dance will be played up to a maximum of 2 minutes and may be faded at any time from 1 minute. If the choreographer feels that the judges need to see more than this (for example if it is an ABC dance), they must advise the contest co-ordinator before the event. If the music has a particularly long intro that you would like to edit so more of the dance is performed this will be permitted (you must send the correct edit). If you require the DJ to start at a particular time in the track these details must be given prior to the event by emailing choreographycomp@gmail.com
